Beginnings

NEMINI was founded in the early 2000s by Gene, alongside the release of BMWs rendition of the Mini. The group was originally formed as NYMINI, but Gene quickly realized the forum had outgrown the NY moniker as people were joining from NJ, CT, and beyond. Subsequently, the name was changed to North East Mini (NEMINI).

Origins of the Duck

The famous ducks that have been seen all around mini communities started with one man, Ed “MAXAMINI” Smith, and a long island mini event to see the world famous giant “Mama Duck”. Ed tragically passed in 2005, but his memory has lived on. Here’s a great write up from Ian Cull all about Ed.
