WARNING: Watch out for fake admin messages!

This is happening on 2 other forums I'm on, so I want to warn you all before they hit us here:

What happens is that someone signs up with an official sounding name, and then starts sending PMs to everyone telling them they have a virus.  They'll also supply you with a link to download a program to remove the virus.  The PM will warn that if you dont do this you'll be banned from NEMINI.

THIS IS FAKE.  There's no virus, and the link doesn't load a virus cleaner, instead it loads spyware that will most likely mess up your PC.

If there were a real virus here, you'd see a post in the support forum, a link in the "banner" section, and a PM from either myself, Rob, Nancy, or one of the other admins.  Not from a login such as "boardadmin" or "sysadmin".

As always, if you get a suspicious PM, post something in the support forum or contact me, Rob, Nancy, or one of the admin staff.

Paul, just out of curiosity, do you know what software the other forums are using? SMF, PHP NUKE....ect?

Admins, please note I turned on the Admin notifications when a new member joins so if you see any suspicious user names, please ban the user until we can determine if they are legit.

We are seeing about an average of 5 user registrations a week, so we shouldn't get bombarded with emails.

I added the Warning to the News Ticker at the top of NEMINI

What a waste of time and productivity - the morons who do this, and all of you folks who have to waste even a few minutes dealing with it...
