C.A.R.T. Track Days 2010

In 2010, CART will sanction the following track day events:

June 17 Lime Rock Park This event is a full day event. You asked for a full day event, complete with time trial and we got it done. Test your skills on Lime Rock's new pavement, and enjoy driving on New England's most challenging track. Event cost $295.00.

July 19 Monticello Motorsports Park South Course New Venue! CART goes to the Northeast's newest track. The day includes both a Time Trial and a Team Relay. Event cost $220.00.

August 27 Pocono North Course CART's only Pocono event for 2010. We're back to the home of the Team Relay event. The day includes both a Time Trial and a Team Relay. Event cost $200.00

www.cartct.com

I'm going to register for the Lime Rock event. Do I need to reference you, S-driver, on the application? Any other suggestions to put down to make sure they OK me? Thank in advance.

If there is a spot for that than your more than welcome to do that. I'm sure that they will take you or anyone as they are really trying to get this event filled, they took a beating last year with all the bad weather they had on their event days. I'll being heading to OnTrack karting Saturday and will talk with Liam and give him the heads up about you. As I said he is the Comp Dir but I don't think he actually does the sign up stuff for these events.

Anybody interested in running the Lightening course at NJMP on March 27-28?  The NJ region of the SCCA is holding a race school and PDX, which is essentially a HPDE.  It was at last year's race school that I completed my requirements for my novice permit to race and remember there was quite a good turnout for the PDX as well.  Neither the cost nor daily schedule is available just yet, but I'll post or provide a link once they are if anybody is interested.

The track has very technical sections from T2-5, a blazing fast banked carousel leading onto front straight, with challenging elevation changes at T1 and T5.  It's similar to Lime Rock, but with lots of runoff room, plenty of nearby motel/hotels and restaurant choices from fast food to gourmet fine dining.  Here are a couple of video links to give you some idea of the track ... and runoff areas.

NJMP with SCCA on March 27-28
« Reply #81 on: February 16, 2010, 05:39:33 PM »
Ok, here is link to the information pack.  Bottom line, it's $350 for both days ($200 for one day) plus $15 if you are not an SCCA member.  Cancellation fee of $30, but looks like for whatever reason you cancel, you can do so until very last minute.  Track sessions alternate among four groups (two racing school groups and two PDX groups), from 8:50-5:30 on Sat and 8:30-5:30 on Sun with 1 hr break for lunch. I recall each session is about 20 minutes long. Let me know if you have any questions, it is a fun track.

I've got confirmation on a date for Mohawk-Hudson SCCA's Monticello date - September 24th, a Friday. Cost will be near the $200 mark for a full day on the north course!

I'm also getting antsy so I'll post a topic for Monticello May 17th! Sorry Carver! :P

This came in an email from CART today:

There’s nothing like a good Six Pack, especially when it involves a CART
track day. Pre-register and pay for six drivers at any CART track event
and receive a rebate for one entry. Get 5 of your friends, and you drive
free, split it six ways, however you want to make it work.

The rules: All six entries must be pre-paid and sent in together, either
by mail or on the Six Pack PayPal link on the CART track day sign up
site. Six entries must be paid for at the event to receive the rebate.
The rebate will be paid by check at the event. The Six Pack offer
expires two weeks before the event, late registrations will not be
accepted for the discount. Cannot be combined with any other offer,
decision of CART officials is final.

Join us at the track June 17, for Lime Rock, July 19 for Monticello
South and August 27 for Pocono North. Don’t forget, Lime Rock is a full
day on the classic course, and Monticello and Pocono will have a Team
Relay event. Can you drive and count to 5? Prove it! Sign up today at
www.cartct.com

Good deal!! Wish I was doing the LRP event. I'm hopefully going to do the Monticello date so if anyone is thinking about it we can get a nice discount!

Thanks for the info, S-driver. I'm already registered for June 17th @ LRP. The Monticello date would interest me more if it were being run on the full course. Anybody else going to Lime Rock with CART?

Just finalized my dates with SCDA. Will be running Lime Rock with them 6 times, and Monticello once. I need to fill in August and September now.

We moved into our new home on Sunday,  now that we are in, and somewhat settled, I have some leverage with the boss.....

I hope to get to LRP 2 or 3 times this season, likely with SCDA and BMWCCA.  Additionally I want to try for a weekend at NJMSP, likely with BMWCCA or PCA as they both have weekend events, and some are 3 days  events (Friday-Sunday).

If anyone interested in NJMSP? It is an excellent facility, with lots a hotels, places to eat, even a Home Depot, NAPA, Discount Auto Parts, Target, Wallmart all within a  short ride from the track.

I have been on both tracks, and they are both great, but I think the Mini dose a bit better on the shorter course, Lightning (IMO).

Congrats, Mike! As to NJMP, would March 27-28 be too early?  The NJ chapter of the SCCA is doing a PDX weekend, which is a DE event, in combination with a race school.  I'll get you details if you're interested, but you can also look here.

Hi Sherman, thanks for the info. It looks like the DE track time is limited to two runs each day, am I reading that correctly.

No, you will get four sessions per day.  The schedule just shows the block of time before and after lunch; within those block of times, the race school groups and the PDX groups will alternate.

This was the race school I did last year, and the attitude of the instructors/organizers was "push it, drop wheels if that is what happens, but stay calm and recover". Can't say if that will be the attitude for the PDX, though.  Nice thing with this is you'll see what the race school is like and get a preview of an SCCA race event for your future consideration! ;-)  And, should you need to cancel for whatever reason, the SCCA will give you a refund (possibly less some administrative fee, but it will detailed in their registration supplement).

I'd be interested in a weekend event at NJMP so I don't have to take any personal days off (rather - call in sick!) on either track. I'm probably going to do at least one day at Thunderbolt with Kojote in June with Fasttruck22 but other than that I have no other days planned. Let me know what dates you may be interested in...

...Anybody else going to Lime Rock with CART?

Just found we're shipping out to Vegas on June 18th, not the 16th as I had thought.  LRP with CART just became very high on my priority list, though I gotsta pay for Monticello first.  These track-days are certainly an awfully expensive addiction...

Try thinking about stepping up to a dedicated track car, trailer, and tow vehicle!  :o

I'm back......

Thanks for the good wishes on the house  ;) Once we get ourselves a bit more settled, will have to host a Mini BBQ, or garage party, or something...

PCA has a few 3 day event to choose from @ NJMP (P-Cars get first dibs) and they host great events.
July 9-11 (Fir, Sat, Sun) and Sept 3-5 (Fri, Sat, Sun)
August 27 -29 (Fri-Sun)
We are expecting another Sussman in late September so Sept event maybe out for me.

BMWCCA has Fri-Sun on August 13-15 on Lightning, and while both tracks are a lot of fun, I'm partial to Lightning.

If any of these dates work for you, I would be happy to coordinate a trip :)

VV and I have been to the track with Laura Risi a few times (Monticello, LRP etc). I think she is the one doing Cannonball run this year. Wonder what she is doing in the novice group?

If she's running One Lap, then she is doing what Brock Yates, and maybe some others, are doing ... getting in some instruction and practice laps on Lightening before the big show! Registration now up to 15 for novice and 17 for advanced, so still not crowded at all, and weather forecast next weekend at NJMP is sunny with 57 high.
